01 / Worlds full of detail
Keep looking.
Keep discovering.
A large illustration can hold many small stories. Characters, buildings and unexpected details form a composition with something new to discover at every glance.
The style can range from a lively cityscape to an exuberant party scene. Colour, perspective and composition hold all the elements together.
02 / Characters & expression
From character
to personality.
A pose or facial expression often tells you who a character is. Creative Blast develops figures with attention to their personality, their world and their intended audience.
The Bobbejaanland selection shows how those characters can work both in colourful group illustrations and in line drawings.
03 / Burgers’ Zoo
A story in pictures.
With humour and character.
For Burgers’ Zoo, Creative Blast illustrated Burgie's adventures. The stories combine humour with information about animals, with attention to recognisable, accurate animal details.
In a comic, expression, timing and the sequence of images need to work together. Burgie's plans and the other characters' reactions carry the story from panel to panel.
04 / Children's illustration
Clear shapes.
Full of colour and fun.
Illustrating for a young audience calls for a different visual language. Clear shapes, friendly figures and distinct colours make a scene immediately readable.
In this selection for Pampers, children, animals and vehicles form a cheerful world. The simple structure leaves room for recognition without losing the playful details.
05 / Augmented Groningen
Drawn with movement
in mind.
For ViemR, Creative Blast created historical characters, buildings and environments for Augmented Groningen. This AR application brings Groningen's history to life. Clothing, architecture and details give each period its own identity.
The illustrations are built in layers for animation. Drawing on extensive animation knowledge, Creative Blast considers what will need to move from the outset. Characters, individual elements and backgrounds are prepared and delivered to suit the animation studio's workflow.
This gives the animator room to bring the image to life while retaining the original drawing style and visual coherence.
06 / Concept visuals & themed environments
An idea made visible.
Before it is built.
Illustration is also a way to develop and present a spatial concept. A visual communicates atmosphere, proportions and details before further development or construction begins.
The fantasy minigolf designs are developed concept sketches from a collaboration with Moos Studioos and HDB Urban Minigolf. They show how a theme can grow into an environment to play through.
07 / Sketches & personal work
From a pencil line
to a distinctive image.
Alongside the colourful illustration work, there is room for another approach: studies of poses, clothing and faces, or an illustration that starts with a personal idea.
This selection brings together fashion drawing, stylised characters and personal work. Different techniques and styles give each subject its own identity.
